Are you saved in the new covenant and still cursed from the old covenant according to scripture? The following is simply a raw sketch for you to decide for yourself. and I'm hoping you would come to conclude that you ARE NOT SAVED AND CURSED. In the end if you still believe you are cursed with the curses of Deuteronomy 28 then you will have to ask yourself a very simple question.
"Is the saving power of Christ powerful enough to save your soul from sin but not powerful enough to keep you from the curses of the old covenant even while under the new covenant in his blood?" We will see that Hebrews 9 answers that later on. For now, let us compare the covenants to put the curses in perspective.
Jesus says even if you obey him you will still go through a hard time.. how can one tell the difference between a black who is suffering and being persecuted for Christ's sake and a black non messianic jew who is being cursed under the old covenant for breaking the commands of the old covenant?.. and God isn't even operating under the old covenant anymore, so they are suffering for other reasons. The following scriptures are thorough and valid on how God speaks about the old covenant and how the writer of the epistle to the Hebrews speaks about the old covenant and new covenant. Observe below.
Deuteronomy 28:45-46 45 Moreover all these curses shall come upon thee, and shall pursue thee, and overtake thee, till thou be destroyed; because thou hearkenedst not unto the voice of the Lord thy God, to keep his commandments and his statutes which he commanded thee: 46 And they shall be upon thee for a sign and for a wonder, and upon thy seed for ever.
Hebrews 9:17-17 15 Therefore he is the mediator of a new covenant, so that those who are called may receive the promised eternal inheritance, since a death has occurred that redeems them from the transgressions committed under the first covenant.[h] 16 For where a will is involved, the death of the one who made it must be established. 17 For a will takes effect only at death, since it is not in force as long as the one who made it is alive.
Luke 16:16
16 The Law and the Prophets were until John; since then the good news of the kingdom of God is preached, and everyone forces his way into it.
…. Did Jesus die? Yes. Therefore, the New Covenant HAS TAKEN EFFECT AND IS IN FORCE. Those who are in Christ are in the New Covenant and “Ministers of The New Covenant”(2 Corinthians 3). Therefore, the death of Christ has now redeemed you from the transgressions of breaking the Commandments and statutes of God committed under the First Covenant. The curses came by transgressing the commandments and statutes. Therefore, the New Covenant puts the curses of the Old Covenant TO AN END.
YOU ARE NOT IN CHRIST AND CURSED…
JEWS WHO DO NOT ACCEPT JESUS AS THEIR MESSIAH AND STILL KEEP THE OLD COVENANT LAW OF MOSES IN PRACTICE ARE CURSED WITH THE CURSES THAT COVENANT COMES WITH. JEWS SUFFERED FROM CURSES BECAUSE THEY TRANSGRESS AND REMAIN UNDER THE OLD COVENANT.
(DEUTERONOMY 28:45-46)
CHRISTIANS SUFFER FROM PERSECUTION BECAUSE CHRIST SAID THEY WOULD DUE TO FOLLOWING AND SERVING HIM AND BECAUSE THE WORLD HATES CHRISTIANS AND JESUS SAID THE WORLD HATED HIM FIRST. THIS INCLUDES THE BLACK CHRISTIAN SLAVES WHO CLUNG TO JESUS AS THEIR SAVIOR DURING TIMES OF PERSECUTION, SUFFERING AND SLAVERY.
(Matthew 5:10-12, 2nd Corinthians 1:4-5, 2nd Corinthians 4:17, Philippian 1:29-30, -Hebrews 2:18, James 1:2-4, 1st Peter 4:14-16)
